LITTLE ROCK – Lt. Governor Mark A. Darr has been elected to serve as the Southern Regional Chair of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) Executive Committee. “The lieutenant governor was nominated to this position by a bi-partisan group of his peers,” said NLGA Executive Director Julia Hurst. “His unanimous election among officials of both parties from every region of the country speaks to the high regard he is held in among his peers.” The election took place during the NLGA Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
“I am very honored and gratified that the NLGA chose to reappoint me to their executive committee,” Darr said. “We have an excellent group of lieutenant governors across the country and I am privileged to serve with them.”
The committee meets approximately three times a year and is responsible for charting the course of policy issues and national impact to be pursued by the nation’s second-highest state and territorial officeholders. In addition to its specific duties, the committee will also address issues of mutual concern to all members.
The NLGA is a professional association enabling policy discussion and progress at the state level and which provides research and best practices exchange to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories.
